ESPN NFL Analyst Dan Orlovsky claims he would take Jayden Daniels with the first overall pick in the 2024 Draft.
Dan Orlovsky went on Get Up early Thursday morning and made a bold accusation about the NFL Draft. Most experts agree that Caleb Williams will go first overall, but Orlovsky thinks otherwise.
"If I were the Chicago Bears right now I would take Jayden Daniels out of LSU."

Dan Orlovsky goes on to list reasons why. “Number one, when you watch all these guys play, the best thrower, the best guy against man coverage ball placement-wise, is Jayden Daniels. Number two, when we are talking about explosive plays, what does it look like for guys who have to throw the ball downfield? Jayden Daniels throws the ball best downfield. And number three, guys who have the best pocket peace, P-E-A-C-E, all these guys are athletic, it is no longer this plus, every one of these guys has that attribute. The patience and the peace within the pocket.
Candidly, I think when it comes to what guy has the best game, none of these guys games compare to his game against Florida.” Via @GetUpESPN
NFL Draft – Quarterback Heavy
The debate will rage on up until the draft. Their career will be compared to each other for countless years. Add Drake Maye into the mix, and you are talking about hours of sports talk for decades to come.
The top three names, Caleb Willaims, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye, are in the “top tier” of quarterbacks that will be taken. A “second tier” comprises Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy, and Michael Penix Jr. All six could be taken in the first round.
Jayden Daniels vs. Caleb Williams
Orlovsky opens his statement with, “This is not a knock on Caleb Williams; this is a plus for Jayden Daniels.” He wants to be clear that Caleb Williams is still the player everyone thinks he is. Dan wants to praise Jayden Daniels rather than knock Caleb Williams down.
Much of the conversation has been Jayden Daniels versus Drake Maye for second overall. This will give notice to who should go second overall. In some small select circles, it could focus on who will go first overall.
Orlovsky Career
Dan Orlovsky played in the NFL for seven years after being drafted out of UCONN in the 2005 NFL Draft. He was a career backup who played sparingly as a starter for the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Although his playing career was short, his analyst career has blossomed. Dan has been on with ESPN since 2019. Since joining the network, he has been the face of NFL quarterback play for ESPN.
Many respect Dan Orlovsky’s words for ESPN, so for him to say that Jayden Daniels should go with the first overall pick, many will listen.
