The quarterback position has been a carousel for the New York Jets this season. Last week, there was speculation that veteran QB Aaron Rodgers may play again this season despite tearing his Achilles back in Week 1. So, will he get the nod in Week 16? The Jets have announced their quarterback plans against the Washington Commanders.
Aaron Rodgers Is Not Playing
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Aaron Rodgers will not play in Week 16 against the Washington Commanders. There is speculation that the Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins all but confirmed Aaron Rodgers would not make another appearance this season. Now, the Jets confirm that they are sticking to this.
Zach Wilson Is Out
So, who will be the starting quarterback for the New York Jets? Well, it will not be Zach Wilson. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a concussion. That is going to keep him out for Week 16.
New York Jets Starting Quarterback
That leaves just two options for the New York Jets next week. Rapoport’s report revealed that the Jets plan to start Trevor Siemian in Week 16 against the Washington Commanders. Brett Rypien will be the backup quarterback in this game. There will not be a third quarterback.
This will be the first start for Siemian this season. However, he has made two prior appearances. How has he done? Siemian has just 176 passing yards and two interceptions.
