The next chapter of this local rivalry kicks off Sunday as the New York Jets get ready to take on the New York Giants.
The Jets are in the middle of the AFC playoff race with a 3-3 record. They are coming off of a bye, but the last time they played, they handed the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the season.
As for the Giants, they just got their second win of the season last week against the Washington Commanders. Sitting with a 2-5 record, there is a sense of desperation to save their season going into this game.
Who will come out on top? Let’s take a look at what to watch in this game.

New York Jets Key Stats
The New York Jets have certainly made bettors some money so far this season. They are currently 4-2 against the spread. However, this is the first time all season they are favorites in a game.
Throughout this season, the main headline has been missing QB Aaron Rodgers. He suffered a torn Achilles just four snaps into the 2023 season, and QB Zach Wilson has filled in ever since.
Because of this, RB Breece Hall has been a crucial part of their success. He needs to be involved for the Jets to win games.
When Hall has 90 or more total yards in a game, the Jets are 3-0. The Jets are 0-3 when he fails to produce this.
Perhaps the biggest question mark of the week is whether CB Sauce Gardner is going to play Sunday. He is a crucial part of this defense, with a forced fumble this season.
The Jets have a +5 turnover differential compared to the Giants’ -4. If Gardner ends up playing, this trend has a better chance of continuing.
New York Giants Key Stats
One of the biggest things looming this week for the Giants is whether QB Daniel Jones is going to play this Sunday. He has missed the last two games due to a neck injury.
Some Giants fans have been calling for QB Tyrod Taylor to start full-time regardless. If he does play, the Giants have a better chance of protecting the football.
Taylor has not had a single turnover in his two starts. However, Jones has had six interceptions and four fumbles in his five starts.
The defense has played much better in the last two weeks. They have allowed 21 points combined in those games. There is a good chance of that continuing here, considering that the Jets only score 18.8 points per game.
One big issue is that the Giants have gotten nothing going offensively. They rank dead last in the NFL in points per game (12.1).
Due to their poor offense, the Under has been very profitable for bettors in Giants games this season. It has hit in six of their first seven games.
Game Prediction
Given the uncertainty at the QB position and both teams’ offensive performances so far, I think the Under has a very good chance of hitting again in this game.
This game will come down to turnovers. If the Jets can force a timely turnover, they should pull this out. If not, the Giants have an opening to pull off the upset.
Final Pick
New York Jets -3 (-105)
Under 36.5 (-108)
