New York Jets: Add Rodger Saffold to Injury-Riddled Offensive Line
Rodger Saffold will help shore up a decimated New York Jets offensive line. The Jets placed center Connor McGovern and G Wes Schweitzer on the injured reserve (IR) after the duo suffered injuries in their team’s 13-10 overtime win over the New York Giants. The Jets had already suffered injuries to the offensive line before last Sunday, with five-time Pro-Bowler Duane Brown and starting lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker out for the foreseeable future. Additionally, the Jets could be without rookie center Joe Tippmann for a second consecutive week. The New York Jets also lost MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter of the first game of the season.
Rodger Saffold will immediately get thrown into game action with the current state of the Jets’ offensive line being in disarray. Saffold has played both guard positions in his career, as well as being a tackle during his first three professional seasons. His best season came in 2017, with the 35-year-old earning second-team All-Pro honors with the Los Angeles Rams.
