The New York Jets are loading up for the 2024 season, around resurgent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and could be primed to add an elite pass-catcher during the NFL Draft.
Earlier this offseason, the Jets made a big splash adding All-Pro Mike Williams to Rodgers’ receiving corps, but might not be done adding game-altering weapons ahead of a pivotal 2024 campaign.
New York Jets Host Rome Odunze for Pre-NFL Draft Visit

Odunze is an electrifying playmaker, who caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards with 13 touchdowns, underscoring his explosiveness by averaging 17.8 yards per reception.
“I am the best wide receiver in this class,” Odunze told reporters at the NFL Combine. “I just think my versatility sets me a part. I have shown all the skills that translate to the NFL at a high level. And I think who I am as a person, who I will be in a locker room and who I will be on the field are all an A-plus.”
Adding Rome Odunze to Rodgers’ supporting cast would round out what has the potential to be one of the more dynamic receiving corps across the entire NFL, with Williams, Odunze, and former first-round pick Garrett Wilson.
General manager Joe Douglas and the Jets seem committed to building a well-rounded offense, stocked with playmakers who can create mismatches all over the field.
“We want to have as many playmakers as we can on the team and take as much pressure off of Garrett [Wilson], Breece [Hall], Aaron [Rodgers],” Jets GM Joe Douglas said. “So, we want to add as many high-caliber players as we can.”
Rome Odunze Scouting Report
In a loaded wide receiver class, Odunze belongs squarely in the conversation among the top prospects at the position.
Across four seasons in Washington, Odunze caught 214 passes for 3,272 yards and 24 touchdowns, becoming a favorite target of quarterback Michael Penix Jr.
“Odunze seems to relish jump balls and contested catches,” NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein writes, comparing Odunze to Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald. “He shines in all aspects of ball skills, including positioning, body control, hand strength, timing and mid-air adjustments.
“He has a tendency to cruise through routes rather than working with attention to detail and pacing. He was a decorated high school sprinter, so speed should not be an issue in the pros. He’s a high-volume target on the next level that play-callers can utilize to mismatch finesse cornerbacks.”
Rodgers and the Jets would certainly relish adding a matchup nightmare such as Odunze into the vertical passing game.
