The New York Jets, at least on paper, have done a tremendous job of improving their offense this offseason. After trading for four-time NFL MVP and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers last year, the Jets felt like they had a legitimate chance to compete for and win the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, that did not come close to happening.
Rodgers, of course, tore his Achilles just four snaps into the Jets’ first game of the 2023 regular season. Even though former second overall pick Zach Wilson was able to rally them to victory in that game, the rest of the season quickly went downhill.
The former Green Bay Packers players that the Jets brought in, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb especially, woefully underperformed, combining for 28 receptions for 350 yards and two touchdowns. Offensive tackle Billy Turner couldn’t crack the rotation of one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL, and backup quarterback Tim Boyle was released after throwing just one touchdown and four interceptions in two starts.
The New York Jets Were Determined to Give Aaron Rodgers More Help

After their second-straight 7-10 season, the Jets were determined to make sure that they made the most of whatever number of seasons they might have left with Rodgers under center. As he is 40 years old and recovering from a torn Achilles, there is no telling how big (or small) that number may be.
Therefore, general manager Joe Douglas went out and made some very savvy roster decisions. While he is holding onto Lazard for salary cap purposes (it makes no sense financially to release him in 2024), he went out signed free agent wide receiver Mike Williams. He also drafted Rodgers’ favorite wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, Malachi Corley.
Douglas also focused on improving New York’s offensive line, signing Tyron Smith and John Simpson as free agents, as well as using his first round pick on Olu Fashanu.
On paper, this roster should be a massive improvement from last year, but since the Super Bowl window with Rodgers may be closing quickly, why not take a home run swing?
NFL Analyst Suggests the New York Jets Trade for Disgruntled San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk

In a recent article posted by Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Alex Kay suggests that the Jets could create one of the best wide receiver rooms in the NFL by trading for San Francisco 49ers holdout Brandon Aiyuk:
San Francisco 49ers receive: 2025 first-round pick, 2025 second-round pick
New York Jets receive: WR Brandon Aiyuk
“The New York Jets know their Super Bowl window won’t be open much longer and need to do everything possible to capitalize on Aaron Rodgers’ last remaining years in the NFL.
“While Gang Green already boasts a solid receiver’s room headlined by Garrett Wilson, Aiyuk’s presence would take it over the top. New York’s offense would be borderline unstoppable with a pair of top-10 wideouts augmented by veteran red zone threat Mike Williams and high-upside rookie Malachi “YAC King” Corley.
“The Jets would likely need to offer up their top two selections in the 2025 draft to land Aiyuk, but the returns could be immense. It’s just the kind of move that a franchise suffering through the longest active streak of seasons without a playoff berth in major American sports needs to become relevant again.
“Mortgaging the future for a vastly improved chance at winning the franchise’s second ever Super Bowl—and first since Joe Namath led the Jets to one all the way back in 1968—would be the right call, bringing some much-needed excitement and hope to fans around the Big Apple.”
This trade proposal is very similar to the one that landed the Jets Rodgers in the first place. It would also pair Aiyuk with Garrett Wilson and Williams, making them one of the most fierce pass-catching trios in the NFL.
Of course, the Jets would have to pay Aiyuk what he is asking for, which is well over $30 million a season. With Wilson and Sauce Gardner, their own homegrown talent, coming up on contract renewals, that may be too big of a price to pay.

Good Deal For both Parties
No truth . Quit playing madden.. aiyuk is not disgruntled . He not leaving. Every year plays do this and nothing happens. Yet you talk our your ……… just stop already.
Not a jets fan but it seems reasonable, in a day were everything we see and or read is crazy its refreshing to see. I have never been a Rodgers fan ( been bears fan since 78) but listening to him stand up to the lunatics on the left has made me a half a fan. Im excited about my Bears though, with alot of skepticism.
