Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets won their second game in a row, defeating the New England Patriots by the score of 24-3 on Thursday night. The game saw Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, look like his vintage self, completing 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 118.9 passer rating.
Rodgers’ touchdown passes were thrown to Allen Lazard and Garrett Wilson. Running back Breece Hall also added a rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
Tight end Tyler Conklin caught five passes for 93 yards while rookie running back Braelon Allen had 68 all-purpose yards.
One of the biggest stories of the night, though, was what appeared to be an awkward moment between Rodgers and Jets head coach Robert Saleh.
New York Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh Appeared to Get Rebuffed by Aaron Rodgers

After Hall scored his rushing touchdown to put the Jets up 14-0 (after the extra point), Rodgers came over to the sideline and was greeted by Saleh. The head coach opened his arms up from an embrace, but Rodgers was seen rebuffing him, leading to a plethora of wild comments on social media:

Some of the comments were rather humorous:

Obviously, many of the comments, right or wrong, poked fun at Rodgers’ frayed relationship with his family or at comments that he has made about a variety of subjects in the past.
Many, though, were worried about friction between the star quarterback and his head coach.
New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Downplays “Awkward” Moment with Robert Saleh

In his postgame interview, Rodgers was asked about the supposed awkward moment with his head coach. His explanation made a lot of sense:

“No. It was not awkward at all. He’s not a big hugger, usually, so I didn’t know he was going for the hug. He likes to do the two-hand chest push as well.
“But he talks a lot about two-score leads, so I just kinda gave him a push and said, ‘Two score lead.’ That’s what happened.”
It is worth noting, too, that the clip that went viral did not include the initial celebration between Rodgers and Saleh before the “awkward” moment.
