The New York Jets have been a dumpster fire over the last decade-plus as they have the longest playoff drought in the league as they have not made the postseason since 2010. However, they went into the season with hopes after getting future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers via trade in the offseason, but he suffered a torn Achilles four offensive snaps into the season.
Since then, the New York Jets decided to start backup Zach Wilson but he was benched during the Black Friday game against the Miami Dolphins and has not played in about six quarters of football. With Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian playing and not impressing, coach Robert Saleh announced Zach Wilson will return to start in Week 14 against the Houston Texans.
Robert Saleh on Zach Wilson: "We always believed he was the best QB in terms of giving us the chance to win."
They went to Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian to try to find a spark.

In addition to Week 14, Saleh did say barring injury that Wilson will remain the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season. That also inadvertently rules out a potential Aaron Rodgers return to the field.
The New York Jets had a whole controversy as Dianna Russini reported yesterday that Zach Wilson was apprehensive about returning to the starting lineup. Zach Wilson has not looked too impressive as he is 190-of-321 (59.2 completion percentage) for 1,944 yards with six touchdowns to seven interceptions.
What’s next for the New York Jets?
The New York Jets are currently in a position that they can “tank” the remainder of the season and get a better draft position for the 2024 NFL draft. With Aaron Rodgers not playing 65.0 percent of the snaps this season, they were able to keep their 2024 first-round pick, that is currently holding the sixth pick.
Their schedule is decent, facing off against some playoff teams as they face the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots. With a team that is 30th in the league with just 14.3 points per game scored, they need to figure out a spark and see who should be back in 2024.
This team has some skill on the offensive side of the football but needs to see how Wilson plays. He needs to showcase he can throw the ball down the field instead of checking down and playing a boring brand of football. This Jets team needs to attempt to make big plays, something they rarely have done this season.
