New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas has gone “Zero-Dark-Thirty” in the most critical hours of the 2024 offseason. With the NFL’s “legal tampering” period beginning on Monday, the league’s top free agents continue to fly off the board. The Philadelphia Eagles inked superstar running back Saquon Barkley, the Atlanta Falcons snagged quarterback Kirk Cousins, and the Green Bay Packers went and signed running back Josh Jacobs for the 2024 season. From an offensive lineman perspective, the Carolina Panthers expect to sign former Miami Dolphins guard Robert Hunt to a massive deal. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams have also added to their offensive line, signing guard Jonah Jackson to a three-year, $51 million contract.
The Jets have yet to make a move on Monday, most notably letting two of the best interior lineman free agents sign their names elsewhere. Their 2024 game plan somewhat contrasts their past successful moves, such as the signing of edge rusher Solomon Thomas in 2023 and the trade for quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the same offseason. Naturally, New York fans are becoming antsy and sharing their feelings on social media.
New York Jets Fans: React to Team’s Lack of Moves
New York Jets fans are still waiting for the team to make their first free agency signing on Monday. On Sunday, the AFC East club signed cornerback Isaiah Oliver to a one-year deal while re-signing kicker Greg Zuerlein on a two-year, $8.4 million contract. However, they are still waiting to make a splash during the beginning of 2024 free agency. While some fans have become frustrated with the team’s front office and lack of moves, others speculate that the Jets may be strategically waiting for the right opportunity or dealing with salary cap constraints. Nonetheless, the Jets faithful are taking to Twitter (also known as X) in anticipation of any news related to a signing.

New York Jets: Eyeing Much-Needed Improvement in 2024
The New York Jets will need to improve significantly next season to make a run to the postseason. They went 7-10 last season, finishing third in the AFC East. They lost starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter of the season opener, replacing him with former first-round pick Zach Wilson; the Jets finished last in the NFL regarding flags, first downs, and passing touchdowns. The offensive line became scrutinized, with Wilson getting sacked 46 times in 12 games.
