The New York Giants lost Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles in NFL free agency on Monday and WFAN’s Tiki Barber had some strong words for him after that.
He said on Monday afternoon on WFAN by saying:
“You’re dead to us,”
These are strong words said by the former New York Giants running back. Tiki Barber has been criticized by the fanbase in the past, but he at least retired and never bolted to another NFL franchise. Barber signifies the meaning of “Once a Giant Always a Giant” Meaning more than Saquon Barkley.
Philadelphia Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley Fires Back at Former New York Giants Running Back Tiki Barber
When Barber said his words along with other WFAN members on Monday afternoon when the news broke of Barkley signing with the Philadelphia Eagles for three years worth $37.75 million, with $26 million of it guaranteed, Saquon Barkley had to fire back to him on Twitter afterward.
@TikiBarber lol yup you’re the prime example of loyalty to a team.. I got the deal I wanted, secured more gm which wasn’t given to me before… so if fans are gonna hate me for that so be it! But I never turned my back on my teammates and always had theirs https://t.co/6aKgJquD0F

@TikiBarber you been a hater since I got to New York … and all the “Dead to me” talk don’t smile in my face when you see me

Well, Barber never left for an NFC East divisional rival like Barkley did. A lot of New York Giants fans can not wait until the Philadelphia Eagles come to MetLife Stadium next season. There will be a lot of fans that are going to heckle and boo Barkley when he returns.
This angered a lot of Giants fans. Had he left for another team like the Baltimore Ravens, for example, there wouldn’t be this much hate from the New York Giants fanbase. Because he went to an NFC East rival, it is a totally different situation.
Barkley hasn’t been healthy the entire time with the franchise and was the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He is 27 years old. It will be interesting to see what he can do with the Philadelphia Eagles moving forward.
Saquon Barkley last season rushed for 962 yards on 247 carries and six touchdowns, along with averaging 3.9 yards per carry. He also caught 41 passes for 280 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 6.8 yards per reception. Barkley did not rush for 1,000 yards every single season with the New York Giants.
However, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen never offered him a contract and they are moving the page with their football team by signing different players on the free agent market.
