The New York Giants wide receiver room needed to be upgraded during the 2024 NFL Draft. They did that by selecting wide receiver Malik Nabers sixth overall from LSU. LSU has had a very good track record of producing quality wide receivers in the NFL and Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jarvis Landry are just a few of them.
Nabers can be a game-changer on the offensive side of the football for the New York Giants. Entering training camp, Nabers is already listed on the first team for that position. Along with Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton are the other two wide receivers on the roster who are on the first team.
Slayton held out during voluntary offseason workouts looking for a new contract. He will be the number two wide receiver behind Nabers and that won’t be a bad thing for him. Wan’Dale Robinson will be the perfect slot wide receiver for this offense. What is the potential depth for this position after those three players?
New York Giants Jalin Hyatt Is Someone Who To Watch For During Training Camp
Jalin Hyatt is currently listed with the second-teamers on the depth chart for the Giants along with Isaiah McKenzie and Isaiah Hodgins. As a third-round pick from Tennessee a season ago, he showed flashes of potential with his straight-line speed.
Hyatt has a chance to make noise during training camp, especially if Darius Slayton continues to hold out because he has one year remaining on his contract. Hyatt played in all 17 games last season and caught 23 passes for 373 yards receiving and zero touchdowns. He averaged 16.2 yards per reception.
Inconsistent quarterback play is what caused Hyatt to be up and down last season. Quarterback play could be another issue again this season for the New York Giants because it is unknown whether or not it will be Daniel Jones or Drew Lock starting next season.
Jalin Hyatt has the talent to see the field this season again for the Giants. He was also targeted 40 times last season. Hyatt is 6’0″ and weighs 185 lbs. New York may keep seven wide receivers on the roster this season because of Gunner Olszewski’s ability to return punts.
Hyatt is going to see the field a lot during the preseason and possibly get reps with the first team during training camp. He will have to impress coaches to be one of the starters in Week 1 for the New York Giants.
