The New York Giants had a 2023-24 NFL season to forget. New York finished with a 6-11 record and Giants safety Xavier McKinney is set to be an unrestricted free agent. Now, he has posted a cryptic tweet shortly before free agency is set to begin.
Xavier McKinney’s Tweet
Xavier McKinney is not afraid to make his voice heard. He is set to get a nice raise as his rookie contract expires. Here is what he had to say earlier today:
“I want to be appreciated in every way for what I do and bring to the table . As a player and as a leader . I’ve stood by myself ten toes through the critics , the hate etc. sacrificing what those around me didn’t want too or were afraid too for those same people to make it a better situation for all of us . May not always have been beneficial for me but it was for US . Don’t let that go over your head . And I’d do it 10 times over again.” -Xavier McKinney
New York Giants Drama
There was certainly drama this past season while the Giants struggled. Most of the reported drama took place among the coaching staff. However, there was a rumor out there that McKinney would not return if defensive coordinator Wink Martindale was coming back.
Since then, the Giants and Martindale parted ways. Does this mean that McKinney will definitely be coming back? His latest tweet leaves a lot of questions unanswered relating to that.
However, one thing is for sure. With nine interceptions and two fumble recoveries in his first four seasons, there will certainly be suitors in free agency. We will have to see if McKinney and the Giants wish to reunite.
