The Moribund New York Giants offense was dealt a bit of a blow ahead of Sunday’s Week 2 contest against the Washington Commanders when star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers was added to the injury report with a knee injury.

Nabers, who the Giants chose with the No. 6 overall pick in this spring’s NFL Draft, was listed as a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.
Across three seasons at LSU, the dynamic playmaker caught 189 passes for 3,003 yards with 21 touchdowns, as his 15.9 yards per reception average underscores his big-play ability.

Despite flashing plenty of explosiveness during training camp practice and throughout the preseason, Nabers inexplicably was a limited part of the Giants’ offense in a rudderless Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Last Sunday, Nabers was held to just five catches for 66 yards, but there had been some optimism he’d take on an expanded role in Week 2.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll had a simple plan in terms of getting Nabers more involved in the offense, saying Daniel Jones and the Giants need to “Throw him the ball.”
It remains to be seen whether Nabers will be on the field, if at all in Week 2.
