The New York Giants had reported drama with their last defensive coordinator. As a result, they parted ways with Wink Martindale this offseason and were in the market for a new defensive coordinator to replace him. Now, it appears the Giants have found the man to do just that.
New York Giants Hire Shane Bowen
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the New York Giants are set to hire Shane Bowen as their next defensive coordinator. Bowen was previously the defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans from 2021-23. Now, it appears Bowen is ready to make a change and potentially bring some members of his coaching staff with him.
Shane Bowen’s Qualifications
So, what qualified Bowen for this position? As mentioned above, he has been the Titans’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons. He was also the outside linebackers coach for the Titans from 2018-20. Bowen has coaching experience at the college and pro level dating back to 2009.
New York Giants Moving Forward
The Giants are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season. They went just 6-11 after making a divisional round playoff appearance the year prior. Now, they hope Bowen allows the coaching staff to be on the same page going forward.
