New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen is in attendance for USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams’s Pro Day on Wednesday, per sources that told NFL Network’s, Albert Breer. The Giants own the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It is very interesting that Schoen is attending his Pro Day, despite the Chicago Bears owning the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and they are likely to select him.
Joe Schoen is just doing his job by doing his due diligence. This is not the only quarterback that he has scouted throughout the draft process. Another quarterback that he has scouted closely is J.J. McCarthy from the Michigan Wolverines and also Drake Maye from the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Last season with USC, Caleb Williams completed 68.6% of his passes for 3,633 yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 136 yards on 97 carries and 11 touchdowns, along with averaging 1.4 yards per carry.
A Lot Of People are Wondering What New York Giants General Manager Joe Schoen Is Going to Do With the Sixth Overall Pick in the 2024 NFL Draft Despite Seeing USC Trojans Quarterback Caleb Williams Pro Day
No one knows what the Giants are going to do with the sixth selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. Some think that they are going to take a quarterback and some think that they are going to take a wide receiver. It will be interesting to see what happens in the top five of this year’s NFL Draft.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves: Caleb Williams, the quarterback from the USC Trojans will be the first overall pick in this class. The Washington Commanders are going to hold all of the cards in the draft. Washington can very well go with quarterback Jayden Daniels from LSU with the second pick. Could that be one of the reasons why the Giants have not looked at him that much?
The New England Patriots will select third, the Arizona Cardinals will select fourth, and the Los Angeles Chargers will select fifth. New England could go with a quarterback, wide receiver, or trade back. Arizona will most likely take a wide receiver and who knows what Los Angeles will do.
The New York Giants could also trade up from six or also move back from six. Five players that could be the pick at six for the Giants should they stay in that spot: Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, Marvin Harrison Jr., Romeo Odunze, or Malik Nabers.
It would be a miracle if Harrison Jr. from the Ohio State Buckeyes were available. Nabers or Odunze feel like the selection for the New York Giants at the moment, but there are a lot of things that can change between now and then, What would actually happen if Chicago didn’t draft Caleb Williams and if they drafted someone else number one overall? The drama of the NFL Draft would begin right away.
