New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito was a big time hit last season by the fans when he won a couple of games when Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor got hurt. Thursday night, the fanbase turned on DeVito in a hurry for an interesting reason.
The reason was is because the Giants won a couple of games that he started and some fans wanted them to tank for a quarterback. New York tried to trade up from six to three with the New England Patriots to get Drake Maye but New England didn’t budge.
There was a time last season when the Giants defeated the Patriots and some New York fans were not happy because they wanted to tank for a quarterback. Even though some of the fans are happy that they did draft wide receiver Malik Nabers from the LSU Tigers sixth overall, some wanted them to draft quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Michigan.
The New York Giants could not make the same mistake as they did in 2019 when drafting Daniel Jones sixth overall out of Duke. Will see if New York takes a quarterback in the second round or later rounds of the draft and go after players like Spencer Rattler from South Carolina or Michael Pratt from Tulane.
It will be interesting to see what happens, but the quarterback room for the New York Giants next season still remains to be questioned for now. Tommy DeVito probably wasn’t a good tank commander after all by some fans.
New York Giants Fans Are Not Happy With Tommy DeVito On Thursday Night
As of right now, the Giants have a quarterback room of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito. The fact that general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are banking on one of these three quarterbacks to save their jobs for next season is wild.
The New York Giants fanbase had this to say about Tommy DeVito on Twitter on Thursday night:
Ain’t no QB room worse than Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tommy Devito

We aren’t getting qb1 anyway brother we are going to go 6-11 again when Tommy devito strikes back with nabers

Maybe if we lost a couple more games during the Tommy DeVito era things would be different…

Tommy DeVito was just trying to live out his NFL dream when the New York Giants brought him on the roster last season when Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor got hurt. Yes, there are those fans for wanting to tank and they can’t be blamed for thinking that way, but wanting him not to win games throughout his one chance of fame is absolutely shameful.
