The New York Giants selected LSU Tigers wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This was the smart selection for the franchise on Thursday night. A decade ago in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Giants selected wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from LSU and it turned out well for them.
Nabers is a total game breaker and he will be for the New York Giants. The wide receiver room improves tremendously. Malik Nabers, Jalin Hyatt, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton are the top four wide receivers on the Giants roster entering next season.
New York tried to trade up from the sixth pick to the third pick with the New England Patriots to go get quarterback Drake Maye, but New England did not want to move the pick. A season ago, Nabers caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns, along with averaging 17.6 yards per reception. He appeared in 13 games a season ago for the LSU Tigers as a junior.
The LSU Tigers have had a track of producing quality wide receivers at the NFL level. Other than Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Justin Jefferson, and Ja’Marr Chase are just some of the names who have been productive at the NFL level.
New York Giants Fans Respond to the Malik Nabers Selection
With J.J. McCarthy on the board still but all of the other quarterbacks gone, the Giants made the smart pick by taking a playmaker at the sixth overall selection with Nabers. There are a lot of happy fans with this selection and this is what some of the fans had to say about it on Twitter:
Comps I heard for Malik Nabers last night: Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs.
Well, if that’s who the #NYGiants drafted, and Nabers has a similar impact, which admittedly is an outrageous expectation the morning after, all segments of the fan base will likely get along at some point.

Malik Nabers turning a 2nd and 9 that he catches at the LOS into a first down while breaking two tackles. The YAC potential for Nabers is what gets me most excited about him. pic.twitter.com/gkaw1IDfLl

After losing out on a quarterback, they did the next best thing and took an offensive weapon that would help this football team immediately. Will Nabers be catching a pass from Daniel Jones next season? Who knows. The most important thing is that general manager Joe Schoen took the best player available to help the Giants now because that was the right move for the franchise.
