The New York Giants tried to trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft to draft a quarterback. They did a lot of due diligence on quarterbacks during the 2024 offseason, but they didn’t even draft one in the later rounds. Quarterback Daniel Jones has dealt with injuries over the last two of three seasons.
The one year he was not injured, the Giants made the playoffs but he was average at best even during that season. Daniel Jones will be entering his sixth NFL season after he was selected sixth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Duke.
New York Giants Find Daniel Jones Replacement In the 2025 NFL Mock Draft By Selecting Georgia Bulldogs Quarterback Carson Beck
Kyle Crabbs of the 33rdteam.com created an NFL Mock Draft before the start of the 2024 NFL season. For the New York Giants, he thinks that they are going to be the worst team in the NFL entering the 2024 NFL season. He has the Giants taking Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck with the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Crabbs said:
“The New York Giants’ experience this offseason was highlighted courtesy of HBO’s Hard Knocks, and the team’s interest in addressing their quarterback situation was not necessarily subtle. With the Giants choosing not to restructure the contract of QB Daniel Jones this offseason, the team is entering into a viable exit window starting in 2025.
Assuming New York lands with the No. 1 overall pick, the bigger question will be which members of the football operations are still in-house to make this selection.
Beck has the prototypical build and arm that most coaches will point to as a solid starting point. But it’s the command of the game that Beck draws wide praise for, and that should move the needle the most for quarterback-hungry teams like the Giants.”
The New York Giants will no doubt be in the Carson Beck sweepstakes this season. The Las Vegas Raiders could be another team too in the Beck sweepstakes.
Worst Quarterback Room in the NFL
Some could argue that the quarterback room of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito is the worst in the NFL. New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen probably regrets giving Jones that four-year $160 million extension after they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs.
Lock and DeVito are not great backup quarterback options. They let Tyrod Taylor walk in free agency to the New York Jets and Ryan Tannehill is a free agent. He would be a better option for the Giants than Jones, but tanking for a quarterback might be the best bet for New York. However, head coach Brian Daboll and company want to win games this season.
