The New Orleans seem to perennially be in “all-in” mode, even when they are not really considered prime contenders in either the NFC nor the Grand Prize.
The New Orleans Saints Not A Believer In The “Rebuilding” Phase
However, even after the retirement of legendary quarterback, Drew Brees, the team still pursued free agency and continued to “kick the can down the road”, acquiring veteran QB, Derek Carr and All Pro safety, Tyrann Mathieu, amongst others, in the past two Brees-less years.
Yet, you wonder why Saints general manager, Mickey Loomis, continues to push the team to continue to pursue this aggressive cap strategy for a team that has finished a combined 25-28 over the past 3 years and has not made the playoffs since 2020.
It seems like Loomis is once again attacking free agency, albeit perhaps less aggressively than in years past, signing receiver Cedric Wilson and Willie Gay.
And now, the New Orleans Saints are once again on the move, apparently on the verge of signing one of the most raw talented defensive ends on the free agent markets – and perhaps the NFL – per Jordan Schultz.

Chase Young Looking For Another Chance At Success
After an impressive debut season, where he made the Pro Bowl and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year, Chase Young’s career has not quite gone to plan.
An injury ridden past 3 years has lead him to just 9 sacks since the 2020 season, and despite being traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a 3rd round pick at the 2023 trade deadline, the Niners chose not to retain his services, instead deciding to sign veteran edge rusher, Leonard Floyd, to pair with former Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Bosa.
Young has decided to sign for a team that has been stout defensively ever since current head coach, Dennis Allen, took over. Pairing in a unit that contains legendary defensive end, Cam Jordan, alongside All Pros Marshon Lattimore and Demario Davis give Young the opportunity to both showcase his skills as a pass rusher.
At 24 years old, signing a contract for $13 million for the year, the New Orleans Saints could be set to get strong value for the former 2nd overall pick, if he is finally able to play up to his potential
