Davante Adams is looking for a new team and the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to let him go to get him off their payroll. The superstar wide receiver joined the Raiders in the 2022 offseason, teaming up with his college teammate and good friend, quarterback Derek Carr, who the team released a year later before his contract expired. Carr, who now plays with the New Orleans Saints, said he wants to reunite with Adams.
During a press interview on Thursday, Carr was asked about a potential reunion with Adams if the Saints trade for him. He said everyone would love to play with the six-time Pro Bowler.
“I think all 32 quarterbacks would love to play with Davante. We would welcome that. I don’t know if I can get in trouble for saying that. I just think everyone kind of knows that,” said Carr. “I think everyone would love to play with Tay. I would obviously welcome playing with him again if that ever worked out in our careers.”
The quarterback added that the Raiders’ 6-11 record in 2022 was the reason fans saw his and Adams’ sole season together as a failure. Derek Carr also pointed out that the wide receiver had the second-best year of his career with him under center.
Davante Adams finished the 2022 season with 1,516 yards and 14 touchdown catches, the second-highest record of his career in both categories.
Davante Adams open to go to either Saints or Jets
NFL Network’s Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday that Davante Adams would be open to joining either the New Orleans Saints or the New York Jets.
“Two teams high on Davante Adams’ wishlist of places to land—if not at the very top—are the Jets and Saints, per league sources,” Schefter wrote on X. “Adams ideally would like to play with a QB he knows. The Jets have former teammate Aaron Rodgers, and the Saints have former teammate Derek Carr.”
The Raiders are asking for a second-round draft pick and additional compensation in exchange for Adams. However, the team that looks to trade for the wide receiver will have to take a $16,9 million salary cap hit, the probable hindrance in any team’s desire to acquire him.
Davante Adams will reunite with former Las Vegas Raiders teammate Derek Carr if he goes to the Saints. But if he goes to the Jets, then he reunites with former Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers. However, it still remains to be seen which of the two teams will pull through and make a move for the wideout.
