Amid all the talk about what Washington should do by 2024 when UCLA and USC leave the Pac-12 something has been lost. The Huskies are having a great recruiting class for 2023. Their 2023 group ranks 20th in the nation on 247sports. This a big lift from 2022 when they didn’t place in the top 50 on the same site. Of course the Washington staff had a slow start. Coach Karen DeBoer was hired November 29th, 2021.

The latest coup for the 2023 class was four-star defensive back Curley Reed from Louisiana. For all the talk of Pac-12 turmoil its not nothing to land a recruit from SEC country.
DeBoer and Washington Are a Good Combination
In DeBoer, Washington garnered a coach with west-coast recruiting experience, coming from Fresno State. But his infectious spirit clearly reaches beyond conference territory. He’s got some things going for him in Seattle as well.
In a recent ranking of 69 Power 5 schools by Sports Illustrated, Washington ranked 25th in desirability. The idea of the rankings was to see what schools would be most desirable if the conferences were starting from scratch. The criteria was composed of football ranking, academic ranking, all-sports ranking, football attendance and broadcast viewership.

Outside of Notre Dame, Washington is slightly ahead of Clemson for the highest-rated school from outside the Big Ten and SEC. The Huskies have slid recently in football but are respectable across the board.”
Washington trails USC (ranked ninth) but is ahead of UCLA (18th) and leads the rest of the Pac-12.
