The Minnesota Vikings are preparing for a major off-season ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Following an injury-plagued (mainly Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson) 2023 campaign, the Minnesota Vikings will be looking to reload in hopes of jumping back into playoff contention in 2024.
The beginning of that retooling will be securing the signature of franchise signal caller, Kirk Cousins, while step number two is hitting on the 11th overall selection in this coming April’s NFL Draft. ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has the club’s general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah bringing in a potential defensive stalwart with the Vikings’ first-round pick in the form of Florida State edge rusher, Jared Verse.
“I almost went corner here — Terrion Arnold (Alabama), Cooper DeJean (Iowa) and Nate Wiggins (Clemson) are my top three — but I wonder whether this instead could be the spot for an edge rusher. If Danielle Hunter leaves in free agency, Minnesota would have a massive void to fill.
Verse could be an asset on all three downs. He had 18 sacks over two seasons at FSU, where he also developed into a solid run defender. He was inconsistent at times, but he has some savvy as a pass-rusher. I’m really curious to see how he tests in the on-field drills at the combine.”
Minnesota Vikings’ Hopeful 2023 Season Plagued by Kirk Cousins’ Achilles Injury
Prior to rupturing his Achilles during the Minnesota Vikings’ week eight win over the Green Bay Packers, Kirk Cousins was quietly in the MVP conversation. Cousins threw for 2,331 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and just five interceptions in less than eight full games.
