The Minnesota Vikings are set to sign a pass rusher
The Minnesota Vikings offense carried the team to many wins last season. The Vikings easily won the weak NFC North in 2022. However, the Vikings weren’t well respected as a playoff threat because of their defense. The Vikings made a recent move to bolster their defense for next season.
According to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Vikings are set to sign Marcus Davenport to a one-year deal for 2023. The contract is worth $13 million. Davenport was a highly sought-after pass rusher in free agency. The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints were teams interested in signing Davenport before he ended up negotiating with the Vikings. The Vikings need Davenport’s services, with a Za’Darius Smith departure seeming imminent.
Davenport had a few suitors, including the #Falcons and his former defensive coordinator with the #Saints in Ryan Nielsen, but he heads to the #Vikings, who are set to move on from Za'Darius Smith. https://t.co/r8mPL198Dr

Davenport finished with 29 combined tackles and half a sack last season. Davenport recorded nine sacks for the 2021 season. He’ll look to continue being a force as a pass rusher in Minnesota next season.
