The Pittsburgh Steelers will head into a crucial Week 9 game without one of their best defensive players. The Steelers suffered some unforeseen injuries during their Week 8 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Steelers’ most significant loss Sunday was quarterback Kenny Pickett. It’s unclear if Pickett will get the okay to play the Titans on Thursday after suffering a rib injury.
The Pittsburgh Steelers rule out a starting safety
Another key player has been ruled out for the Steelers on Thursday night. According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has been ruled out against the Titans. Fitzpatrick suffered a hamstring injury against the Jaguars.
#Steelers coach Mike Tomlin rules DB Minkah Fitzpatrick out for Thursday, but says the door is ajar for QB Kenny Pickett. No structural damage to his ribs makes it possible.

The 4-3 Steelers will be without one of their secondary players against a feisty 3-4 Titans team. The Titans put up 28 points in quarterback Will Levis’ first start for the Titans. Levis hooked up with star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for 128 yards and three touchdowns in their win Sunday over the Atlanta Falcons.
We’ll see how the Steelers’ defense is able to defend a pesky Titans squad Thursday night without Fitzpatrick.
