The Michigan Wolverines are coming off a national championship season, but 2024 will look very different. Jim Harbaugh, along with many key players, are off to the NFL. New head coach Sherrone Moore was hired and immediately brought stability to the program. He has built his staff, and the Wolverines are looking to compete in the Big Ten once again. Pro Football Focus ranks Michigan in the top ten in their way-too-early top 25.

Many thought Harbaugh leaving would end the era of success for the Wolverines. PFF doesn’t think that is the case. They have the team ranked seventh in the early rankings and point towards the success of Moore in the interim role, with some key players returning. Moore coached games against Penn State and Ohio State at the end of the regular season. The game against the Nittany Lions was on the road in a hostile environment. He went undefeated. In terms of players, TE Colston Loveland, DL Mason Graham, and DB Will Johnson are top players in their position. There is still plenty to like about this team.
Can Michigan Actually Win A Fourth Straight Big Ten Championship?
There are a couple of hurdles the team will have to get over. The first is the tough schedule. Texas, USC, Oregon, and Ohio State are all on the schedule. This is on top of tough Big Ten road games where they should be favored, but wins are never guaranteed. The second is the quarterback position. There is no clear starter as of this moment, and the play of that individual will be vital to the success of the team.
The Michigan Wolverines are getting a lot of respect around the college football media world. They will be one of the teams to watch in the fall.
