BREAKING: Former Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh Slammed With NCAA Punishments; Fans are Furious

Former Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh was officially punished by the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions panel.

Former Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh was given multiple punishments

    Green Bay Packers, John Harbaugh
Jim Harbaugh is NFL-bound after leading Michigan to three straight Big Ten titles and the 2023 national championship.

The NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions panel didn’t only issue a full one-season suspension to Harbaugh, but they also gave him a four-year show-cause order.

While the punishment being dished out by the NCAA in this case has no ties to the alleged sign-stealing scandal that is currently undergoing investigation, Michigan expects to receive a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA regarding that investigation soon.

This particular punishment has to do with recruiting violations and non-coaching staff overstepping their bounds and doing “coaching activities.” Michigan itself admitted to not properly monitoring the football program Harbaugh was running.

Harbaugh improperly recruited during a COVID-19 dead period and had impermissible contact with recruits which was initially a Level II violation, but Harbaugh is responsible for the violations ramping up to Level I according to an article from On3.

“his unethical conduct and failure to cooperate with the membership’s infraction process” [rose Level II violations to Level I violations.]

The one-season suspension issued by the NCAA would still affect Harbaugh if he ever decided that he wanted to come back to the college level, but it is essentially useless if Harbaugh, who is 60-years-old, decides to call it quits after a final NFL stint.

Now the coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, no punishment from the NCAA can affect Harbaugh unless the NFL decides to cooperate with the NCAA and dish out their own punishment.

If Harbaugh decided to come back and did serve the aforementioned one-year penalty, On3 says he would be:

“barred from all athletically related activities, including team travel, practice, video study, recruiting and team meetings” for the length of the show-cause order.

Fans are upset that former Michigan Wolverines HC Jim Harbaugh skated punishment by heading to the NFL

Now that Harbaugh, who will likely never head back to the college level, has been punished for violations not related to the sign-stealing scandal, fans are looking down the road to a future where Harbaugh skates all responsibility because he left to go to the NFL.

Fans are upset that Harbaugh is essentially receiving no punishment as he would have to willingly go back to college to endure the punishment given to him by the NCAA. If he is found guilty in the sign stealing scandal, this punishment shows the lack of power the NCAA has over Harbaugh unless the NFL decides to cooperate.

Harbaugh didn’t just leave for the NFL in the middle of his career. He is among the oldest coaches in the NFL and he signed a five-year contract worth $16 million a year.

So basically it’s a big nothing. Harbaugh won a title, bolted to the NFL before he could be punished and will never deal with the consequences of cheating. Got it.

Jim is 60 years old and in year 1 of 5 of a 16M/yr contract.

I’m sure he’s all broken up about it. 😂

He ran off to the NFL none of this will matter to him

Which changes a grand total of zero things.
