The Miami Hurricanes have a new quarterback this season and reports are very positive about the former Washington State quarterback Cam Ward. Last season, Ward had 3,735 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Ward transferred to Miami for this year’s upcoming NCAA football season. He is the third highest-ranked transfer behind Ohio State and Michigan State’s transfer quarterbacks.
The Miami Hurricanes were ranked 43rd in the nation in passing yards, only averaging 280 yards per game. Cam Ward will give Miami more versatility and stability at quarterback this season. Ward threw for 400 yards twice in a game last season and over 300 yards in his past seven games. With Ward at quarterback, Miami will have a big improvement in offense.
Miami Hurricanes Wideouts will Thrive with Cam Ward
Miami’s wide receivers, Xavier Restrepo, Jacolby George, and Joshisa Trader, had great seasons last season and are looking to continue and build on that for the 2024 season. It does not seem it will be a problem for them since Ward has already begun to build positive relationships with his receivers. Restrepo and George were two of the ACC’s top receivers last season. Restrepo had 1,092 yards and six touchdowns. George led the Hurricanes with eight touchdowns and 864 yards, and ranked third in the conference.
Head Coach Mario Cristobal has confidence in his new quarterback to set the tone for Miami this season. If Ward does well this season, Miami can contend for an ACC title in 2024. Ward is an electric player and can boost the offense of the Hurricanes who struggled last season in close-scoring games. Miami is confident that Ward can break through and have a great season for the Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes Open Season at The Swamp
The Miami Hurricanes will open up this 2024 season against in-state rival Florida Gators at The Swamp. The Hurricanes have not been to Gainesville since 2008 and have not played the Gators since 2019. The Hurricanes own a 29-26 advantage in games against the Gators and have won the last eight meetings. However, going into the Swamp on opening night will not be an easy task against the Gators. It will be an electric game and a great one for Cam Ward to show off his talent as quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes.
