The Miami Hurricanes made a big-time splash on Monday night via the recruiting trail. Per national recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett, the Canes landed a commitment from running back Jordan Lyle.

Lyle originally had committed to play for Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, the Florida native will stay in his home state, a decision further cemented by Lyle posting his flip through his own Twitter (also known as X) page.
Jordan Lyle: Top-Ranked Running Back Prospect
Jordan Lyle is a four-star prospect and the 25th-ranked running back in the class of 2024, per 247Sports. Lyle ran for 1,376 yards and 21 scores as a senior at powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The six-foot, 180-pound rusher also caught 13 passes for 177 yards and a score. Lyle played three years of varsity football, winning the 7A state title as a sophomore in 2021.
Miami Hurricanes HC Mario Cristobal: Continues to Flip Ohio State Commits
Jordan Lyle is not the first top-end prospect that Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal has snatched from the Ohio State Buckeyes. Five-star mega prospect and fellow high school senior Justin Scott flipped from Ohio State to Miami last month. The six-foot-four, 310-pound defensive lineman receded his Buckeyes pledge in late November, five months after verbally committing to the Buckeyes. He committed to the Hurricanes the same day he withdrew his intention to sign with the Buckeyes.
Meanwhile, freshman running back Mark Fletcher Jr. landed with the Hurricanes this fall after initially committing to Ohio State. Despite his first-year status, Fletcher ran for 512 yards and five scores on a team-high 103 carries.
Additionally, four-star defensive end Marquise Lightfoot verbally committed to Miami last July. The edge rusher had predicted to land in Columbus with the Buckeyes. Still, he quickly leaned towards Miami before officially expressing his intentions to join the Hurricanes publicly.
