The Miami Dolphins have agreed to terms with former Cleveland Brown Linebacker Anthony Walker for a one year deal.
Anthony Walker has played in 85 NFL games. He has 513 tackles, 3 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles. Last season, Walker started 12 games before suffering his knee injury in December of 2023. Last season in 2023 Walker had 44 tackles, 4.5 sack and 2 forced fumble recoveries.
He is solid in coverage and he has held opponents passer completion percentage to 66.7%. The Dolphins are hopeful this will help them now since they lost DT Christian Wilkins to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Anthony Walker is a Miami native he played at Pace High School before entering the NFL in 2017. He was the 5th round pick for the Indianapolis Colts. He has spent the last 3 seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
The Miami Dolphins heading in right direction with LB Anthony Walker
The Miami Dolphins will look to Walker being productive this upcoming season since they have lost LB Jerome Baker in free agency. Walker is ranked 31 out of 82 qualifying linebackers.
The Miami Dolphins are looking to improve their defense after losing key players in free agency Monday. The Dolphins ranked 10th last season in defense and 15th in passing defense. With Walker’s speed and agility this should help the Dolphins improve from last season.
However, the downside to Walker is that he is an injury risk. He has had arthroscopic knee surgery and had a torn quadricep in 2022. Hopefully he can stay healthy for Miami now that the Dolphins are down 6 starters from last year. Since adding Walker they save $10 million in cap space. The Miami Dolphins are expected to clear $30 million in cap space by March 13th.
The Miami Dolphins looking towards the future
Now that free agency has begun the Dolphins will need to add some key players to the roster to help them on defense. Miami will look to adding edge rushers , linebacker and safeties to the roster to help improve the defense.
As free agency continues we will see who the Dolphins pick up in the areas they are lacking. The Dolphins did sign big Tight End Jonnu Smith from Atlanta this should help the tight end position on the offensive side of the ball. The defense will need some help all around after losing DT Christian Wilkins, LB Andrew Van Ginkel, Brandon Jones and Robert Hunt.
