In 2021 the Dolphins gave Tua Tagovailoa a familiar weapon by using the sixth pick of the draft on wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Waddle and Tua played two years together in Alabama in 2018 and 2019. As a rookie Waddle had a record breaking season in which he recorded 104 receptions and 1,015 receiving yards. This offseason added yet another target by trading for Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill.
Although Tua has been the center of lots of criticism from the media, his teammates have shown nothing but support for their quarterback. ” That boy looks scary right now.” Waddle expressed while on the It Needed To Be Said podcast. On the show he also said “He been that guy since Alabama…..going to come in consistent, accurate, make the throws he is suppose to make, he is going to show out, be a great leader.” The pair of receivers also expressed how they will be happy when everyone sees what Tua is capable of.
Tyreek Hill has supporting and hyping up his quarterback since the moment the team traded for him. This week was no different. When asked about what the media is saying, he said ” You can’t just show it all… that’s why i really believe they showed the clip of Tua under throwing me”. Hill also added it’s “just to get them talking…… There is a plan behind everything.”
The Dolphins have high expectations this season and know to make a splash in the AFC they are going to need Tua to be what his teammates knows he is.
