If anyone is celebrating the trade that sent Buffalo Bills’ wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans, it should be the Miami Dolphins.
Diggs was apart of a trade that got the Texans the star wide receiver, a 2024 sixth-round draft pick, and a fifth-round pick in 2025. The Bills were able to get a second round pick in 2025 as a result of the trade.
The powerful wide receiver could’ve been dubbed the owner of the Dolphins, seeing how lethal his performance was against this particular team. No matter how hard they tried, they just couldn’t get past him.
Good News for the Miami Dolphins
The one plus for Miami with Diggs going to Houston is that they only see him once a year now in comparison to the two or three times they would normally be seeing him when they’d play Buffalo.
The Bills are the current title holders of the AFC East, and the Dolphins are looking to take that title back for the first time since 2008; They were close to clinching that division title until Diggs and the Bills ran Miami over in the final game of the 2023 NFL regular season, bringing Buffalo’s winning streak to five when it comes to the AFC East title.
Certainly Diggs was an amazing player for the team and played well besides Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen, so whoever has to step up and fill those shoes are probably going to have a lot of expectations thrown upon them to continue making the impact that Diggs did with the team. Presumably, the Bills will have to look to the draft to bring up a promising prospect.
Against Miami, Diggs went 8-1 with 719 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 13.6 yards per catch and 9.2 yards per target in those nine games.
No Excuses, the Dolphins Should Easily win the AFC East Next Season.
Even without Diggs on the Bills’ roster, it probably will come down to the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills matching up for that title.
Miami does have a little bit of an advantage, though. If we’re talking offseason pick-ups throughout the entire AFC East, the Dolphins have signed some solid players to their roster including Shaq Barrett, Aaron Brewer, Jordyn Brooks, Jordan Poyer, and Jonnu Smith. The Bills have only added Nicholas Morrow and Mitch Trubinsky, neither of whom are going to step in place of Diggs at wide receiver.
The AFC East has been busy 💸

Now, is it possible the New York Jets or New England Patriots could come out of the woodwork and shock the football nation? Sure, I’m not discrediting them whatsoever, however, the odds are favoring more for Miami or Buffalo to take the division this upcoming season.
The Dolphins have the best offense in their division, so there’s no excuses as to why they couldn’t easily take the AFC East.
Maybe this trade will motivate the Bills to go out there and be great and continue to dominate, or they use this as a learning curve and reset. With Miami bringing back the majority of their offense from last season, there’s no telling what damage they’re going to do in the division.
The odds are in Miami’s favor with this trade, though Buffalo is +160 favorited to win the division again, the Dolphins aren’t too far behind with +170. It’s time for Miami to take back what is theirs.
