The Miami Dolphins season may be ending before it even got a chance to start. The team lost their starting quarterback in week 2 and they are reportedly not going to get Tua Tagovailoa back until week 8. The real issue is that they have looked like the worst team in the NFL without him, and if they lose this week their season may already be over.
Miami Dolphins Vs. New England Patriots
Miami is facing the New England Patriots in a must-win situation for them, and they go into the game as a point underdog. Miami has looked awful in the two games so far without their starting quarterback, which is probably why they are favored to lose against an injured Patriots team that does not have a great roster.
They have put in Tyler Huntley since their backup got injured in week 3, and they have not been able to do anything. Maybe another week of practice may help, but it appears that the Dolphins team may be imploding.
If Miami loses this matchup to start their season 1-4 they are in big trouble and can basically kiss any hopes of making the playoffs goodbye. Even Tyreek Hill made comments about a potential trade, and to make matters worse, they are now losing their up-and-coming star Jaelen Phillips for the season. It is crazy to think how much this week 5 matchup matters for them and the entire trajectory of their season.
If they can gut out a win, 2-3 does not look bad at all for their playoff hopes. Even if they win, they will need a major turnaround to make the post-season as the AFC is grueling this year, and they have quite a tough schedule ahead of them.
Miami Dolphins Schedule Moving Forward
Their season is really on the line this Sunday against the Patriots, as they will have many tough games ahead of them, even when Tua comes back. They are also mounting brutal injuries on the defensive side of the ball, and in many ways, the team is falling apart at the seams.

If they start 1-4 while still having to play Aaron Rodgers twice and Josh Allen another time. They have at least 4 other games that will be very tough, and even if they can win a few of those they will be looking at an 8-9 season which will not get the job done.
The Dolphins season is on the line on Sunday, and there is not much optimism to think they will win.
