The Miami Dolphins continue to undergo a massive roster shakeup, with free agency beginning this week. In a lesser-known move, Miami added some secondary depth on Wednesday. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, Miami has signed cornerback Siran Neal to a one-year deal.
The Buffalo Bills released Neal to start free agency. However, the Jacksonville State product did not have to wait long to ink his name with a new team.
Miami Dolphins: Sign Siran Neal
Siran Neal will join the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal. The six-foot, 206-pound corner was the Buffalo Bills’ fifth-round draft pick in the 2018 NFL draft. Neal saw action in every game as a rookie, tallying 11 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble in 16 games. Neal saw an uptick in production during the 2019 season, registering a career-best 36 tackles and two TFLs. The Alabama native played a significant role with Buffalo from 2020 to 2023, collecting 47 tackles, five passes defended, and two quarterback hits in 66 games.

One of Siran Neal’s standout qualities is his versatility. He has proven to be a valuable asset on special teams, playing at least 77% of the Bills’ special teams snaps over the past two seasons. His role should expand with the Miami Dolphins, particularly in their special teams unit next season. He has demonstrated his prowess on kickoff, forcing fumbles, and on punt, where he even registered his lone NFL reception, showcasing his adaptability and potential impact on the team.
Miami Dolphins: Active Free Agency
Siran Neal is not the first former Buffalo Bills defender to sign with the Miami Dolphins. The AFC East club inked standout safety Jordan Poyer after their rival released him earlier this week. Poyer earned All-Pro honors in 2021. Miami also landed former Tampa Bay Buccaneers Shaq Barrett to replace Andrew Van Ginkel.
Miami also added to their elite offense, snagging free agent tight end Jonnu Smith. The former Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots have accumulated 20 receiving touchdowns in his seven-year NFL career. They have also added Robert Jones and Aaron Brewer.
