The Kansas City Chiefs have signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a 1-year $11 million contract. Brown was the 25th pick in the NFL Draft in 2019. He has played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Baltimore Ravens. Brown has 313 catches, 3,644 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns in his overall career.
In 2023, he had 51 catches for 574 yards and 4 touchdowns over 14 games. In week 15 of the 2023 season he fell to a heel injury against the San Francisco 49ers and couldn’t complete the season.
Despite winning the Super Bowl last season, the Kansas City Chiefs were amongst the worst NFL team in dropped passes last season. The drop rate for the 2023 season was 6.9% and averaging over 2.6 drops a game.
The Cleveland Browns were second in the NFL next to the Chiefs with the most dropped passes in a game. The Chiefs are hoping that Marquise “Hollywood” Brown can be a major factor in changing those stats for next season. He will be a great offensive addition for Patrick Mahomes and their offense.
Dropped Passes by Kansas City Chiefs players in 2023
Rashee Rice was the leading player with the most dropped passes last season for the Chiefs. He had 8 dropped passes amongst the worst receiver in the league. He did improve his drop percentage as the season continued. The next player was Tight End Travis Kelce with 7 most dropped passes on the team, which is very unlike the future Hall of Fame tight end. Next, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, dropped a potentially game winning touchdown pass in week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles in their Super Bowl 57 rematch.
Will Marquise “Hollywood” Brown have the answer to Kansas City Chiefs Dropped Passes?
The Kansas City Chiefs need to improve on their drop passing rate because it will cost them games next season. They are hoping “Hollywood” Brown can be that difference maker on their team to help them get over this area of their game on offense. Brown is a talented play maker and he can use his speed to improve the Chiefs offense. The Chiefs have not had a deep ball threat since Tyreek Hill moved on from Kansas City to the Miami Dolphins. The Chiefs are hoping Marquise Brown and Patrick Mahomes can be on the same page with little no miscues this season and make plays happen.
