RUMOR: LSU Superstar Viewed as Number 1 Overall WR by Multiple Teams Heading into NFL Draft

With the NFL draft just over a month away, teams with first round selections are inching closer to deciding on their future and the LSU Tigers could have multiple players go in the top 5.  Including Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels, who soared up draft boards this past college football season.

Despite having multiple players projected as top picks, the number one ranked prospect amongst the 2024 class is Marvin Harrison Jr.  Who played 3 seasons at Ohio State and is following in the steps of his father Marvin Harrison.  However, it’s been rumored that the number one receiver spot in this year’s draft does not have a unanimous selection due to Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze also declaring for the draft.

According to NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, it wouldn’t be crazy if Nabers was the first wide receiver taken off the board in this year’s draft.

“I wouldn’t be shocked if Nabers ended up being the 1st WR taken off the board.  I love (Marvin Harrison Jr) and Odunze but Nabers brings a different element.  It’ll come down to preference of style but I guarantee some teams will have Nabers at the top of their list.”

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler backed up Jeremiah’s take, saying that several teams have felt this way since the college football season ended.  Most mock drafts from NFL insiders have Nabers going right behind Harrison in the draft to the Los Angeles Chargers at 5th overall.  Los Angeles recently let go of Mike WIlliams and traded Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears.  So, he would be a primary target for Justin Herbert if this scenario fell into place.

In his 2023 campaign, Nabers caught 89 passes for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns.  He also broke the LSU record for most receiving yards in program history with 3,003.  Whoever drafts Nabers will receive a production monster and comes from a school that breeds NFL talent at the wide receiver position.  Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Odell Beckham Jr just to name a few.
