The LSU Tigers had an exciting season even though they did not win the SEC. Having Heisman winner Jalon Daniels on the team meant fans got to see some absolutely electric plays. Head coach Brian Kelly is hoping to get back on top in the SEC and he just landed a huge piece from the transfer portal. Former Texas A&M safety Jardin Gilbert announced he has committed to the Tigers.

LSU Tigers Land S Jardin Gilbert
Gilbert had a rough 2023 due to injuries but in 2022 he was one of the best safeties in football. He tallied 61 total tackles to go along with two interceptions and four pass breakups. Gilbert has two years of eligibility remaining and could help anchor the back end of the defense for a couple of seasons. He had this to say in a statement.
“First I am home and I need to be home and represent my state. Then I would say mostly because of the coaching staff. I feel like they are mainly about developing the players to be the best players they can be. To play my last one or two years of college, why would I do it anywhere other than to come home where I belong?”
2024 Outlook
The SEC schedule is brutal for everyone but the backend of 2024 will be a gauntlet for LSU. In three of the last four, the Tigers have to play Alabama, Florida, and Oklahoma. The good news for the Tigers is only the game against the Gators is on the road. LSU will have to be on their game for those games or a late-season collapse could happen.
Can the LSU Tigers get back on top of the SEC? Getting Gilbert helps and the hope is that they can attract more top talent to the program.
