ESPN/ABC college football broadcasters Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit thought officiating had a huge impact on LSU’s 36-33 win over South Carolina on Saturday. Fans agree with that assessment.
The Tigers didn’t play a clean game against the Gamecocks. They trailed for most of the game and were helped out by several questionable calls in the fourth quarter.
South Carolina was screwed by the officials
Tigers’ quarterback Garrett Nussmeier finished 24/40 passing for 285 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. However, his stat sheet doesn’t tell the whole story. The refs called back two Nussmeier pick 6’s.
Nussmeier’s interception came after several questionable calls went against the Gamecocks. A pass that was completed deep into Tigers’ territory was called back because of a questionable pass interference penalty. A Gamecock’s wide receiver appeared to bump a Tigers defensive back who was nowhere near where the pass was sent.
On the next play, a Tigers defender hit running back Raheem Sanders out of bounds late, but the refs refused to call a penalty for a late hit. South Carolina would cough the ball up on the next play.

I will always love football but it’s the 2nd most rigged sport only behind boxing. LSU got outplayed and the refs saved them and handed them the game. Not right. I can watch Texas win games all year and in the end if they want the other team to win we can get screwed to. It’s sad

As a USC alumn, I need LSU to win this game for quality win purposes. But there should be a Congressional investigation into the refs, because South Carolina keeps getting ripped off. One of the most rigged college football games I’ve ever seen.
