The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a surprising season. They snuck into the playoffs as a wild card when not many people expected them to bounce back so soon.
Unfortunately, for the Rams, legendary DT Aaron Donald announced his retirement this offseason. This made the 2024 NFL Draft even more important for Los Angeles. The Rams ended up with the 19th overall pick but reportedly tried to move up to #10. Read below to find out more.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Rams reportedly were interested in moving up to the #10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. This came when Los Angeles only had the #19 overall pick to work with in the first round.
The New York Jets held the #10 overall pick at this time. As a result, the Rams offered the #19 overall pick and the #52 overall pick to the Jets if they gave the #10 pick up. Ultimately, the Jets never ended up moving forward with that offer.
Players Picked Instead

So, who did the Rams and Jets end up picking in the first round? Well, the Jets ended up drafting OT Olumuyiwa Fashanu from Penn State. As for the Rams, they beefed up their defensive line by selecting edge rusher Jared Verse from Florida State.
However, there is one important note when it comes to these two picks. The Jets moved down to the #11 overall pick and traded the #10 overall pick to the Minnesota Vikings. As a result, the Vikings ended up drafting QB J.J. McCarthy, who won the national championship with Michigan last season.
Why the Los Angeles Rams Wanted to Trade Up

So, we know what the Rams were interested in doing and how this ended up transpiring. However, that still leaves one question on the table. Why did the Rams want to move up to the 10th overall draft position?
Meirov revealed that Los Angeles was interested in star TE Brock Bowers from Georgia. Bowers was widely regarded as by far the best tight end available in this year’s draft.
In the end, the Rams failed to move up to select Bowers. However, assuming this report is true, Los Angeles was right to want to trade up for Bowers. He ended up getting selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the 13th overall pick, with the Rams coming up six spots short.
