Can the Los Angeles Rams replicate their past success in 2024?
Despite being universally thought of as past their prime, the Los Angeles Rams won 10 ball games in 2023 and secured a spot in the NFL Playoffs. However, Aaron Donald has retired, Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp have gotten another year older, and at some point, the doubters will be correct.
Will the Los Angeles Rams Secure Their Future in the 2024 NFL Draft?
In ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.’ latest 2024 NFL mock draft, the Los Angeles Rams help aid the loss of Aaron Donald, when the club is projected to select UCLA edge rusher, Laiatu Latu with the 19th overall pick in next week’s draft.
However, the real fireworks begin early on day two as Kiper Jr. predicts that the Rams will trade up with their neighbors, the Los Angeles Chargers to acquire the 37th overall pick, where the club is mocked to select 2023 Heisman Trophy finalist, Washington quarterback, Michael Penix Jr.
“Yes, the Rams have Matthew Stafford. Yes, they brought in Jimmy Garoppolo. And yes, they drafted Stetson Bennett in Round 4 last year. But Stafford is 36 and has dealt with serious injuries in recent years, while Garoppolo is on a one-year deal and Bennett spent his rookie season on the reserve/non-football illness list. There’s a lot of uncertainty in L.A. past 2024.
Penix could be the future franchise signal-caller for coach Sean McVay and the Rams. He is accurate to every level of the field and is a great decision-maker. He had 67 touchdown passes and 19 interceptions in his two seasons at Washington. I have a Round 2 grade on him, just behind Bo Nix in my rankings.”
