The health of the right tackle position continues to be an issue for the Los Angeles Rams throughout their first 11 games of the regular season. So far, three offensive linemen have started at that particular spot this season, compared to only two in 2023. Their $34.5 million veteran has only played seven games due to two separate ankle injuries, the most recent occurring four weeks ago.
The Los Angeles Rams starter exited Week 9
Rob Havenstein suffered an apparent ankle injury after a run play at the goal line in the third quarter of Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. Havenstein limped off the field with the assistance of the medical staff. He would not return for the remainder of their overtime victory over their division rivals. Tests determined that the veteran offensive tackle suffered an ankle sprain. As a result, he has missed the last three contests, as the Rams went 1-2 in his absence.
The Los Angeles Rams revealed an encouraging injury report
According to Stu Jackson of TheRams.com, the Rams will utilize this week of practice to determine whether Rob Havenstein plays against the New Orleans Saints. McVay also said Havenstein is “trending” towards playing this week, which is a good sign. Here’s what the head coach had to say about the subject matter:
“I think he’s trending toward that being more likely than less,” McVay said. “We’ll see how practice goes tomorrow, but that’s the plan.”
Who replaced him for the past 3.5 games?
Two offensive tackles have taken over at right tackle for the past three weeks. Joseph Noteboom started in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins and played every snap. Noteboom did not play in Week 11 against the New England Patriots because of an ankle injury.
Warren McClendon Jr., who replaced Rob Havenstein for the remainder of Week 9, got the nod for Week 11 since Noteboom was out. After a solid outing against the Patriots, McClendon, once again, got the nod for Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
