The Indianapolis Colts are looking to bring quarterback competition in for Anthony Richardson this offseason. While they’re not giving up on Richardson, they’re not fully confident in him either.

Richardson has not been able to show consistency on the field throughout his short time in the NFL. He has also shown some questionable decisions on the field, such as subbing himself out of the game due to being tired. Those are not things that franchise quarterbacks do.

With that in mind, the Colts are expected to actively look for another quarterback this offseason.

Who could they target? They are showing interest in one intriguing quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.

As shared by Aditi Kinkhabwala of CBS Sports, the Indianapolis Colts were among the list of teams who had a formal meeting with Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers during the NFL Draft Combine.

#Texas QB Quinn Ewers tells me he had seven formal meetings here at the combine: #Jaguars, #Titans, #Jets, #Saints, #Raiders, #Colts, #Steelers

Only two – the Steelers and Raiders – did NOT put him on the whiteboard. He said they were far more focused on him as a human.

Ewers started off the 2024 college football season as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Unfortunately, his performance did not live up to the hype, which has negatively impacted his draft stock.

When all was said and done, Ewers completed 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also scored two touchdowns on the ground.

If the Colts could land Ewers in the second round, they should strongly consider the option. He could very well end up beating out Richardson as a rookie for the starting job.

Even if he doesn’t play in year one, Ewers could push Richardson for years to come. Having two young quarterbacks competing with each other might be an ideal scenario for the Indianapolis Colts.

Only time will tell what Chris Ballard and the Colts’ front office will do. However, Ewers is a name to keep a very close eye on.
