The Defending National Champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, had 15 players invited to the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, which ran from Wednesday to Sunday. Ohio State currently has anywhere from eight to eleven players projected to be drafted in the first two days of the 2025 NFL Draft. One Buckeyes player projected to be a Day 1 draft choice is their offensive tackle despite coming off a devastating injury.

Elite left tackle Josh Simmons is projected as a first-round pick despite coming off a devastating injury. Simmons suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his left knee in Week 7 against the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, October 12. A torn patellar tendon has a similar recovery time as an ACL tear, but a patellar tendon injury is considered more challenging to recover from.

The good news is that the star offensive tackle is recovering nicely.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Josh Simmons’s medical reviews during the combine went very well, and he is believed to be ahead of schedule in his recovery from last season’s injury. As Rapoport points out, the expectation is for Simmons to be ready for the start of the 2025 season. Although the projected first-round pick is coming off a devastating injury, being available for the start of next season is a great sign, and it may not cause him to slide drastically in the upcoming draft.
