The Los Angeles Rams played against the Detroit Lions on Sunday night for their first regular season game. The Lions won 26-20, thanks to an opening drive touchdown in overtime, and because of the rules, the Rams didn’t have an opportunity to possess the ball. Throughout the game, many offensive linemen on the Rams suffered an injury.
Left tackle Joseph Noteboom suffered an ankle injury. The medical staff carted him off the field in the first half and he did not return to the game. He will miss at least a few weeks with a high ankle sprain.
Left guard Steve Avila suffered a knee injury in the first half. He did not return to the game in the second half. He will miss time with an MCL sprain and is an injured reserve candidate.
Right guard Kevin Dotson suffered an ankle injury during the game but managed to play every snap and was spotted in a walking boot postgame. He is day-to-day with a lateral ankle sprain. Sean McVay hopes that Dotson will be ok.
The Los Angeles Rams right tackle missed Week 1 with an injury
Rob Havenstein missed Week 1 because of an ankle injury. Havenstein injured his ankle in their second week of training camp and missed over a month of practice. He returned last week and was limited in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s practice. The Rams had him ruled as questionable, but ultimately, he didn’t play.
The Rams started Warren McClendon Jr. at right guard. McClendon, a fifth-round pick from a season ago, got his first career start. He did ok (considering this was his first start), with five pressures, two hurries, and three hits per PFF.
Rob Havenstein received an encouraging injury update
Sean McVay told reporters after the game that Havenstein could return to the field soon.
“We’ll see what the magnitude of those guys’ injuries are,” McVay said of Noteboom and Avila. “Obviously, we’ll get Alaric back in a couple of weeks. I think Rob’s return is sooner than later.”
Having Havenstein back for Week 2 benefits the Rams’ offensive line, which has been plagued by injuries as of late, plus the two-game suspension of Alaric Jackson. Having him back in the lineup could allow Warren McClendon, not A.J. Arcuri, to start at left tackle. Arcuri allowed seven pressures, five hurries, and two hits in 51 offensive snaps per PFF.
NFL fans react to the possibility of having Rob Havenstein back for Week 2
It seemed like Big Rob was close to being ready last night but just needed a few extra days to recover.
Praying that we can him at AZ this Sunday because we need him badly.
Thankfully Limmer should be able to hold it down at C while Avila is out.

Would be great if Havenstein is back next week and they can swing Mclendon to LT.
