The Los Angeles Chargers have had a season to forget in 2023. From having a losing record and not making the playoffs, quarterback Justin Herbert suffering a season-ending injury, and head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco, 2024 cannot come soon enough for Los Angeles. Now, this season has gotten worse for the Chargers, as a devastating update regarding their superstar has come out before their matchup against the Buffalo Bills this Saturday.
Chargers ruled out WR Keenan Allen for Saturday’s game vs. Buffalo.

Keenan Allen Injury
Star receiver Keenan Allen will not play this weekend with a heel injury. Allen had missed last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and it was unclear when he would be able to see the field again this year. It’s looking increasingly like the star receiver will not play again this season, which the Chargers would be smart to do to prevent aggravating the injury.
Allen had one of the best individual seasons of his 11-year career leading up to the injury. He has amounted to 1,243 receiving yards and seven touchdowns this season and has been in the top three all year for the most receiving yards in the NFL. Allen has been the top target for the Chargers this season, especially after receiver Mike Williams suffered his season-ending injury back in week three against the Minnesota Vikings.
Los Angeles Chargers Disappointing 2023
Los Angeles Chargers and NFL fans are saying that the team should just let Allen sit out for the rest of the season to get back to full health for 2024, and the team would be smart to do so. The Chargers have a very tough schedule ahead of them to finish the regular season, going against the Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Denver Broncos. They are pretty much out of the playoff picture barring one of the biggest miracles the league has ever seen, as they only have a 4.8% chance of making the postseason.
Los Angeles is 5-9 and in last place in the AFC West division. They will face Buffalo this Saturday in a holiday primetime matchup and will be under interim head coach Giff Smith. The Chargers might be looking to lose out these last three games of the regular season to secure a decent draft pick as they look to build for improvement in 2024.
