The Los Angeles Chargers, who parted ways with multiple key pieces on offense this off-season, are likely to replace their original core of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler with young talent in this year’s draft. They have already signed former Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards to a two-year deal worth $6.5 million in free agency but could be in the works for a reunion to pair with the bruiser from Baltimore.
Michigan RB Blake Corum Will Take Top 30 Visit with Los Angeles Chargers
When asked about his pre-draft meetings on the Rich Eisen Show, Michigan superstar running back Blake Corum only had one trip planned for his list of top 30 visits. Ironically enough, it is with the Los Angeles Chargers.
The head coach in Los Angeles is now Jim Harbaugh, who coached Corum at Michigan for his entire college career. With the history and chemistry these two have, it’s understandable that Corum would take a top 30 visit with his former head coach.
While the Chargers are his only top 30 visit, Corum mentioned that he will be attending local days with the Ravens and Detroit Lions. He has also had meetings and dinners with coaches from all around the NFL gaining new perspectives.
Michigan Won First National Title in 21st Century Last Season Under Jim Harbaugh
Ranked as the number one seed in College Football for the majority of last season, Michigan dominated their way to their first National Championship since 1997. The Wolverines were a run-first team on offense and Corum was the leader of that attack. He rushed for 1,245 yards and a program record of 27 touchdowns in 2023.
Corum, who is 24 years old heading into this year’s draft, has some extra mileage compared to other running back prospects in his class. However, he has the patience and vision to thrive at the next level and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine. A reunion with a head coach who knows his strengths could benefit his development long term.
