One of the weakest positions on the Los Angeles Chargers defensive last season was the defensive line.
Nick Williams and Austin Johnson are unrestricted free agents, and the team added depth to the position by signing a massive defensive tackle.

According to Aaron Wilson, Los Angeles signed Poona Ford to a 1-year, $1.79 million contract.
Poona Ford started his career with the Seattle Seahawks
Ford went undrafted in the 2018 NFL draft, and Seattle signed him as an undrafted free agent. Ford played in 76 games, starting in 64, and had 181 tackles, 28 for a loss, 27 QB hits, 8.5 sacks, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble in five seasons. He also played in five playoff games, starting in four, and had 12 tackles and one for a loss.
He spent the last season in Buffalo.
Poona Ford spent the 2023 season with the Buffalo Bills
Ford signed a 1-year, $2.25 million contract with Buffalo in 2023.
Ford played in eight games, missing nine because he was a healthy scratch, and had nine tackles, one for a loss, three QB hits, and one sack.
What does their defensive line look like now?
As of now, Los Angeles has seven defensive linemen under contract. They include Morgan Fox, Otito Ogbonnia, Poona Ford, Scott Matlock, Christopher Hinton, Jerrod Clark, and CJ Okoye.
Don’t be surprised if Los Angeles signs a few more starters in free agency or drafts a few.
Having Ford will help strengthen their run defense.
