The Los Angeles Chargers have had their fair share of devastating injuries this season. Star receiver Mike Williams is out of the year after he suffered a season-ending injury early in the year, and receiver Joshua Palmer is set to miss a few weeks with a knee injury. Now, they have placed another huge name on the injured reserve list this week after the game against the Green Bay Packers.
Chargers’ HC Brandon Staley told reporter that DE Joey Bosa is now likely to be placed on injured reserve with a sprained foot.

Joey Bosa Injury
Star pass rusher Joey Bosa was placed on the injured reserve with a sprained foot that he suffered in Sunday’s game against the Packers. Bosa has had issues with big injuries throughout his career, and this will add to the list for him. It is still unknown how much time the star player will miss, but it usually takes anywhere from two to four weeks to fully heal depending on the severity.
Bosa has been having a great year in 2023, amounting to 20 total tackles and six and a half sacks. His presence on the defensive line on the opposite side of Khalil Mack has been impossible to contain for opposing offensive lines, but now the team will have to prepare to be without him for at least a couple of weeks.
Los Angeles Chargers Defensive Impact
The Chargers have one of the worst defenses in the league since head coach Brandon Staley took over the defensive play calling, but Bosa has always been a force to be reckoned with since he entered the league. In his career since 2016, he has racked up 321 tackles and 67 sacks, and also amounting to four seasons with more than 10 sacks.
Los Angeles is currently 4-6 on the year and sits in last place in a close battle in the AFC West division, excluding the first-placed Kansas City Chiefs. They will have a tough test at home next week on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens, who are one of the top teams in the AFC Conference. We will see how much of an effect Bosa’s absence has on the defense for the Chargers.
