The Kansas City Chiefs have made it clear to a star player that the team is in no position to give them a big bag.
The Chiefs have made a few roster moves since the Super Bowl that show the team is set for austerity this offseason.
The Kansas City Chiefs are dealing with cap complications
The Chiefs signed punter Matt Araiza, which means All-Pro punter Tommy Townsend is set to hit free agency. They cut Marquez Valdez-Scantling Wednesday.
The Chiefs have yet to decide on Chris Jones’ contract. But they’re getting close to making their plans with L’Jarius Sneed final.
Reports came out Tuesday the team was planning to execute a “tag and trade” of Sneed if they could not reach a long-term deal before the franchise tag deadline next week.
The Chiefs grant L’Jarius Sneed permission to seek a trade
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Chiefs granted Sneed permission to seek a trade. Per the NFL Network:
The Chiefs have granted cornerback L’Jarius Sneed permission to seek a trade, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday. Rapoport added the Chiefs could elect to use their franchise tag on Sneed ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline and then trade the fourth-year defensive back.
If Kansas City does indeed tag Sneed by the March 5 deadline, the organization will have until mid-July to either lock him into a larger extension or presumably make good on its word and trade him. The one-year franchise tag for cornerbacks is set at $19.8 million for the 2024 season.
The Chiefs want to keep Chris Jones
It was unlikely the Chiefs could keep Sneed and Jones on the same defense next season.
It’s clear the Chiefs are making Jones a priority while at the same trying to receive some value for a former fourth-round pick who was groomed under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

They’ve got to clear out all the riff raff, it’s all Team Kelce now! That will run it’s course in another month or two.
William Shatner.
is it really you sir?
Trade Travis Kelcy – don’t need a coach shoving drunk on the team.
Kelce must go
Indeed but I doubt it will happen. But you know what happens when they cut people right? They might have a good strong team, but doesn’t mean they will win the Super Bowl because someone else will out smart them.
Deep Purple Burn 1974 is a great album.
Kelce needs to go. You do not shove an old man like that, especially if he is your coach. That guy still has that druggie mentality.
AMEND TO THAT.
Kelcegoes no where you fools…..chief for life
I hope that the Chiefs Organization can keep everyone from those back to back Superbowl winning teams,if affordable add more ! I, Gregory Terrell Jones will like to be selected to work with the Organization through the Bill Walsh Minority Coach program,or another alternative way. I am an African American who has tried be apart of an National Football League Organization, never has been selected. This Opportunity will be appreciative one.
Professionally Yours,
Gregory Terrell Jones
What about those Chiefs!
How about those Chiefs sir
Kelce took a team friendly deal. His contract doesn’t clear space for Jones and Sneed.
Coach Kelce..Ill leave it there..yall werent talking trade or cut before Taylor showed up.who you hating?Travis or Taylor
Exactly…. Kelce has been one of your best players. You don’t get rid of him just because he yelled at the coach one time in the heat of the moment in a playoff game… I think they want him gone for non football reasons. Otherwise it makes no sense. Now if you say he is going to retire very soon and this is your last chance to get something in a trade then maybe. But that’s kinda sad to ship out a stud that has done so much for your team.
It was a superbowl not a playoff game
Superbowl.public wants fire and emotion.well they got it.its football people.thats why we love it.kelce loves and respects coach.hope he apologized privately.maybe got coach good steak dinner.i think coach Reid can deal with his players his way. Love it all!!!
