Lil Wayne recently admitted that he would never perform in a Super Bowl Halftime show according to an interview with Rolling Stone. The 42-year-old rapper was in fact, quite eager to perform in the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime show, mainly because the event happened in his hometown of New Orleans. However, the rapper went overlooked and the NFL eventually went with Kendrick Lamar.
Apparently, Lil Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was very hurt by the announcement of Kendrick Lamar. Lil Wayne also admitted that he did plenty of things to satisfy the league so that he will be considered for the Halftime show.
“They stole that feeling,” Wayne said. “I don’t want to do it. It was perfect.” Lil Wayne said on ‘The Rolling Stone’.
“To perform, it’s a bunch of things they’re going to tell you to do and not do, asses to kiss and not kiss. If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like (Michael) Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing shit with Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues. I’m not Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the stu’, smokin’ and recording.” The esteemed rapper added.
In the same article, Lil Wayne also mentioned that he received an apology from someone in the NFL. Despite Lamar performing in the Halftime show that he earnestly wanted to, Lil Wayne sorted things out after the event and are definitely on good terms with each other.

Lil Wayne Has Been Awfully Fond Of Green Bay Packers In The NFL
Although the New Orleans Saints play from his hometown N’Orleans, Lil Wayne has always been vocal about his love for the Green Bay Packers. This was especially evident in the 2023 NFL season when Lil Wayne brought the team out the tunnel once and even led the crowd in cheering for the team.

In the Super Bowl Halftime show at New Orleans when Lil Wayne was unable to perform, the Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs tried their best to win and complete a three-peat. But, the Eagles were too strong and emerged the winners with a final score of 40-22. Philadelphia’s QB Jalen Hurts was definitely the hero of the day with 221 yards, completing 17 passes out of 22 attempts.
