Just recently, the Las Vegas Raiders traded Davante Adams to the New York Jets, making his reunion with Aaron Rodgers a reality. The thing is, it looks like they were the winners in this transaction, according to an NFL report.
The Jets have finalized a significant trade, acquiring Adams from Las Vegas. This move reunites the wide receiver with Rodgers, aiming to rejuvenate the Jets’ struggling offense and enhance their chances of breaking a long Super Bowl drought. In exchange for Adams, the Raiders received a conditional third-round pick for 2025, which could become a second-round selection depending on Adams’ performance this season.

After missing the last three games due to a hamstring injury, Adams expressed excitement about joining the Jets and reuniting with Rodgers, emphasizing their familiarity and shared history. Interim coach Jeff Ulbrich noted the significance of Adams’ arrival, highlighting the elite skills he brings and the impact on the team’s overall dynamic.
With Adams now in the mix, the Jets aim to capitalize on their receiving corps, which includes emerging talents like Garrett Wilson and veterans like Allen Lazard. The Jets have high hopes for Adams to alleviate pressure on Wilson, who has been facing double coverage.

Are the Raiders a better team without Adams? No. However, the receiver made it clear that he had little interest in sticking around for the latest rebuild. And while Las Vegas was hoping to get more out of trading the six-time Pro Bowler, there wasn’t a ton of interest at the initial asking price.
“That lack of high-level interest has more to do with the Raiders’ asking price—a second-round draft pick and additional compensation—along with the fact Las Vegas has said it doesn’t want to pay any of the money left on Adams’ contract,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter wrote on Saturday.
The Raiders emerged as winners in the trade of Adams to the New York Jets. While they lost a talented receiver, they secured a conditional 2025 third-round pick, which could elevate to a second-rounder based on performance.

Given Adams’ desire to leave and the lack of high demand, this deal maximized their return. Importantly, the Raiders avoided assuming any of Adams’ hefty future salary, allowing them to focus on building for the future. This trade provides valuable draft capital as they navigate their ongoing rebuild.
